UNCERTAIN GERMANIC TRIBES, Pseudo-Imperial coinage. Mid 3rd-early 4th centuries. 'Aureus' (Gold, 20 mm, 6.44 g, 6 h), imitating Elagabalus, 218-222. NOVΛIOΛ COMVΛO Laureate head of Elagabalus to left; below bust, torque. Rev. OIHONOIIONOI Victory hurrying right, holding cornucopiae in her left hand. Cf. Calicó 3038-3041 (for prototype). Holed and with some marks, otherwise, very fine.

The prototype of this coin is an aureus of Elagabalus (Calicó 3038-3041) with the well-known VICTOR ANTONINI AVG-reverse, but the Barbarian artist added a torque below the bust on the obverse and replaced Victory's usual attributes, a palm frond and a wreath, with a cornucopiae.
